Nissan 13070ZK01B — Engine Timing Chain Tensioner

Overview

Timing chain tensioner Nissan 13070ZK01B regulates chain tension within the overhead camshaft drive assembly to prevent slack and tooth skipping. Constructed with a cast steel body, this unit features an internal hydraulic piston designed for engine oil operating pressures between 1.5 bar and 5.0 bar. Overall dimensions measure 65 mm in length by 42 mm in width, featuring two 6.5 mm mounting bolt holes spaced for standard M6 fasteners. The tensioner incorporates an internal non-return check valve and a ratcheting plunger locking mechanism to retain oil pressure on engine shutdown. Original equipment cross-reference numbers include 13070-ZK00A, 13070-ZK01A, and 13070-ZK01B.

Engine application covers Nissan VQ series V6 powerplants, including 2.5L VQ25DE, 3.5L VQ35DE, and 3.7L VQ37VHR petrol engines. Direct fitment applies to Nissan Murano Z50 and Z51 models from 2003 to 2015, Nissan Teana J31 and J32 models from 2003 to 2014, Nissan Maxima A34 and A35 models from 2003 to 2014, and Nissan Quest V42 minivans from 2003 to 2009. Replacement is required when experiencing metallic rattling sounds during initial cold startup, mechanical wear on the chain guide shoe face, or sticking plunger motion caused by oil contamination. Replacing a worn unit prevents camshaft timing slippage, engine misfires, and potential valve-to-piston contact. Recommended service life replacement occurs during major timing kit overhauls after 150000 km of operation.
