Renault 490018888R — Steering Rack

Overview

Steering rack Renault 490018888R converts the rotational movement of the steering column into linear displacement of the track rods to pivot the front road wheels. This hydraulic power steering assembly comes complete with inner tie rods featuring M14x1.5 threads and rubber dust boots. Manufactured with a cast aluminium alloy housing, the assembly incorporates a ground steel rack shaft measuring 24 mm in diameter. Operating at a hydraulic system pressure of 90 bar, this unit restores direct steering response and precision. The factory part number 490018888R directly replaces OEM references 490011233R and 490013920R. Internal components include high-pressure shaft seals, a rotary hydraulic control valve, and mounting eyelets designed for M12 bolts. The unit features standard hydraulic port connections for fluid feed and return lines.

This power steering rack fits Renault Logan II, Sandero II, and Logan Stepway models produced between 2012 and 2022 fitted with 1.6 8V and 16V petrol engines and hydraulic power steering. Replacement becomes necessary when hydraulic fluid leaks from the end seals, internal rack teeth suffer excessive mechanical play, or knocking sounds occur during travel over rough surfaces. Additional symptoms indicating wear include binding of the pinion, uneven steering resistance, or stiffness when turning. The complete assembly installs directly onto the front subframe using original mounting points without requiring hydraulic hose modifications or additional adapter fittings.
